Sarah Foley

Sarah is a first year Professional Writing student at Algonquin College. She aspires to be a novelist and hopefully have her books adapted to film someday. Her ultimate dream is to live in an old cottage deep in the woods and email her books to the world, but for now she lives in the city of Ottawa and manages a restaurant to pay the bills. She’s a Stephen King fan and horror movie buff, with a soft spot for Star Trek. Her shining moment was meeting Sir Patrick Stewart in the summer of 2011. She feels most at home when travelling, and thinks knowing oneself is the most important thing.

Sarah covered a wide variety of topics in her chosen subject of etiquette in everyday life. Her lively posts are self-revealing and honest. She allows others to share in her efforts to keep growing as a person. She speaks directly to readers of her own age who are curious and concerned about how to comport themselves properly. The latest post on weddings caught my attention immediately with the jaw-dropping costs of the average Canadian wedding, and I was hooked. Sarah's writes well, and boasts a wide vocabulary that she deploys with skill. – Peggy Berkowitz

Keep It Classy

With spring here and summer fast approaching, wedding bells are in the air. According to experts, the average wedding in Canada now costs upwards of $22,000. That’s quite a chunk of change to spend on one day, and it would be unfortunate and unnecessary for it to be ruined because someone simply didn’t know the etiquette.

Aging and a Higher Standard

Just short of three decades on this spinning ball of earth and water, I’ve noticed a lot of changes in what I expect of myself and from others.
